Combat Commander again

Played another scenarios of this most excellent game with my Dad.

First up was last scenario from the Normandy pack with Polish troops trying to stem flow of Germans through the Falaise Gap.
We then began revisiting the Stalingrad pack playing the first two scenarios.
One being on the road to Stalingrad and the second a bloody fight for the Grain Elevator in the city proper.
A different feel to these urban scenarios with Rubble and nice twists to Melee and Sniper useage.

Combat Commander action at Authie

Not much gaming done this week due to an annoying back injury sustained lifting a drunk male whilst on duty meaning I cannot sit or stand too long at table or even in front of PC.
The joys of ageing !!

However I  did manage one quick scenario of Combat Commander with my Dad this being another Normandy affair with Cannucks facing SS at Authie on 7th June 1944.
A tense game this one as the SS are powerful with heavy artillery support and thin Canadian line needs to slow them up whilst staying intact to guard the key central victory locations.
With only 6 Time Checks until Sudden Death rolls time is against the German player and so it transpired in our game.
Several quick Time Checks put pressure on Germans as they were still not in real striking distance of VPs.
The SS are awesome in close assaults but we were beginning to roll for Sudden Death checks just as they got adjacent to several Canadian units.
I managed to retire out of harms way whilst breaking a couple of stacks long enough for the game to end in my favour after third (!!) Sudden Death roll.

Combat Commander further action in Normandy

Played another couple of Normandy pack scenarios with my Dad.
Two were set around Omaha Beach and the third saw British at Sword Beach
Usual frenetic action in all three with Allies wining two and Hitlers bunch one.

Forgot to pics of the first scenario as so engrossed

Combat Commander: Normandy revisited

Played three Combat Commander scenarios at my Dads.
Three Normandy set games with three wins for the Allies.
First was from Paratrooper pack with US Paras defending a hill post D-Day west of Meredret river.
Next up was British Airbourne at Pegasus bridge followed by the assault on Pont Du Hoc by U.S. Rangers.
Three excellent games with usual excitement of events and action combined with frustration and teeth nashing that this great game system generates.

More Combat Commander

Another couple of Combat Commander scenarios played.
First set near Aisne River in France 1940
Forgot how awful the French hand can be with single discard ability and they were duly trounced by well equipped Germans
Second scenario was set during Falaise Pocket with Germans trying to stream past some Polish troops during night hours.
This one was a nail biter and huge fun going to wire with Huns winning by a single Victory Point.
Super stuff as always with Combat Commander.

Combat Commander again

Another two Combat Commander scenarios played with my Dad tonight.
Both rather tough scenarios for one side it seemed to us.
I had Russian airbourne in 1943 who had a torrid time against superior numbers of Germans and two of those damn MG42s (HMGs).
In the second scenario it was my Dads Germans who had a rough time again in 1943 against some tough Russian Commando types in a built up area.
Usual mix of events and occurrences that Combat Commander generates for fun game time though.
Hoping to try Pacific version next time.
