Finished off my last two remaining Prussian units for Lasalle (giving me choice of two Cavalry 'picks'), namely two Landwehr Cavalry units in Silesian and East Prussian garb. 15mm Black hat figures once more.

Birthday purchases pending......................................

My birthday looming on 25th July (my 47th aaaaaaarrrrrrrrggggggghhhhhh !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) and so a few purchases made to ease the pain.

Peter Pig army pack for these rules a 'British Southern late war army' ie yet another totally new period and figure range for me to paint !

This of course means obligatory Osprey title required

Ordered another 12 Prussian Landwehr Cavalry from Black Hat to complete my cavalry 'pick' from Lasalle army builder

Pre-ordered this first Black Powder supplement from Warlord Games

And when Piquet Field Of Battle II is available (should be soon) it too will be ordered.

Much more spending like this and it could be my last birthday !! :-)

Lasalle Prussian vs French 1814

Lasalle game today with Stephen using my Prussians against his Young Guard. French were attackers but with rain and mud their chance of success fairly minimal (as their eight turns barely allowed them to reach my set up zone even in march column) no complaints on Prussian side ! still an interesting game with French having 4 batteries of Artillery (2 x 3 guns batteries with reserve unit) and Prussians having 5 on table Cavalry units (3 Landwehr 1 Dragoon & 1 Hussar). French Artillery fairly pounded my center blasting my Foot artillery and Line Infantry unit. Draw in end mud slowed all progress.

Prussian Dragoons & Hussars 1813/14

Further to my last post have now painted up a 12 figure Hussar Regt (Silesian National-Cavalry Hussars) along with finishing off the Dragoons (5th Regt Prince Wilhem). All Black Hat 15mm figures.
Also when I got home from work today package from Black Hat had arrived with another unit of Line Inf and a Landwehr Cavalry unit, some much needed magnetic tape plus some nice gabions (from Baueda) for my Thirty Years War guns to hide behind.

Slightly better pics this time

Prussian Dragoons 1813/14 finished

Just finished (well almost just need based) a unit of twelve Prussian Dragoons (5th Regt) for my 1813/14 lot. These took a wee while to complete as not much time lately. A unit of twelve Hussars up next but need to decide which Regt and colour scheme to adopt. Just ordered another unit of twelve Landwehr Cavalry and unit of twenty four Line Infantry from Black Hat.

Pretty poor iPhone pics will update with better pics once based.

Lasalle Prussian first outing..........................

Played Lasalle game last night versus mate Stephen.
Great game as Lasalle is easy to pick up and highly playable.
He selected a Guard Division as core and this meant every single unit was Valiant making them tough hombres indeed. I managed to be attacker. On turn 2 he rolled for arrival of his Reserve Cavalry needing to roll under 3 (had +1 bonus for Cmdr) and rolled double 1s (first time I have heard him cheer such rolling !!). This forced my Reserve infantry to adopt square and the tough Guard Cavalry had a merry old time breaking 2 squares an artillery unit and riding down my Fusileers (caught in line). My own reserve arrived on my right and on first charge broke a French square (my 6 dice rolled 2 hits his 8 dice only one so double therefore decisive win) however bounced off next two deployed squares. I was hoping for quick game end as a non decisive win counts as loss for Guard force but no game was extended by three turns and I failed my 2nd Army Morale Check losing the game. Lots of quality cavalry made for a torrid time for Infantry and we did feel that 3 broken squares (2 of which were undamaged prior to melee) seemed a tad odd. I was actually surprised by the lack of musketry in the game. But great fun with a very playable and decisive set of rules that we managed a full 19 turns with (only my 2nd ever game) and a clear result not something a lot of Napoleonic rules I have witnessed achieving. The French Guard selection in the Army Builder lists is a tough opponent as the +2 dice for better Esprit often occurs. The fairly average Prussians need a good deal of luck against such quality. Looking forward to next outing for my new minions..........................................
