L'Art De La Guerre - 2 games played

LADG played today at Stephens and we managed two games.

First up I used my Minoans against Hittites.

A fairly close game until my central Chariot command (the Dendra armour boys) came undone in center and then some heavy Spearmen and Bowmen were lost leaving gaps the Hittities could exploit.

The second game I used Stephens Ghaznavid figures against his Hindu Indian and this was an extremely close game indeed !

In fact it ended up with both armies breaking in same turn (Indians had lost a few more points worth) which I do not think we have ever had happen before ?

I won a Elephant clash and a Cavalry clash on my left and center but my right suffered from Indian Bowmen shooting and not helped by my having 6 Rally attempts (over 2 turns) for my elite Ghulams and failing every single roll (4+ needed).

We both had a lot of 6:1 rolls in this game seeing units killed off pretty quickly.

Found this which tickled my funny bone

Mortem Et Gloriam another game: Minoan vs Hittite

Another outing for MEG rules today (we intend to play 2 or 3 more to try to get a decent grasp of rules) this time Stephen using his Hittites and I my Minoan (Early Mycenaean).

Lots of Chariots on the table (some 50+ including Generals) with the Hittite types being more numerous.

The Hittite Chariots were quite effective being Superior and with Bows and as Drilled troops were very maneuverable being able to skirmish and stay away from my Battle Chariot types whilst peppering them with arrows.

Stephens foot were fairly weak but he was able to retire them efficiently (good cards) until forced to fight near table edge.

We ended the game both needing to destroy a further 3 units each however as my right wing and center were essentially in tatters I suspect his rampant Chariots would have carried the day.

Another good game with lots of action.

Field Of Glory Ancients game

Managed to hobble over to Stephens to play a FOGA game (been a while) using my Minoans against his Hittites with 47 Chariots on table between us.
Very nice game it was too.
My spearmen are like a moving wall as tough to defeat when steady but not really capable of attacking steady enemy themselves.
I did manage to paint up (shock ! gasp !) a new unit of 24 medium foot types for the game !
Minoan Chariots are all heavy (and slow) whilst Hittites have nice mix of heavies and lights, some with shooting capability so more flexible.
I had a unit of medium foot archers which are usually fodder but they managed to shoot up a unit of Chariots this time.
However Hittites have a couple of tougher foot units with Impact ability or Swords which outclassed my foot punching a whole in middle of my line.
A dice fest clash of opposing heavy Chariot line saw Hittites come out winners as eventually.
Great game though with two fun to use and dare I say handsome (sounds more manly than pretty) armies.

Another set of crappy photos as only had phone with me
