Might & Reason Malburian game played and a Grand Slam !!!

Le Duc arrived today for a game using Might & Reason rules as he wanted to try them out.
I picked Malburian period to use my 10mm stuff selecting a French versus Imperial matchup using the points system.
French had an Average commander and Imperial a Good leader.
I laid out terrain during week and Le Duc selected the French and we simply deployed 12" onto the table and then had at it.
Great game with lots of the simple subtleties of the rules coming through.
One needs to manage Command Dice over the course of a Turn and to manouevre units to advantageous positions before committing them otherwise Inconclusive outcomes are the norm.
I had a force of Dutch troops assisting the Imperial Austrians and the get extra dice to roll Musketry phase to simulate Platoon firing system but not once did I manage any sort of devastating volley whilst the bog standard French opposing them rolled multiple hits !
Both our flanks seemed to implode at same time but my Dutch took losses and therefore I was rolling for failed Army Morale from 4th turn and at end of 5th my Army succumbed.
Great stuff with an ever excellent rule set.
Maybe not as dramatic as Field of Battle but has nice feel of linear warfare.

Austrian right

Ill fated Dutch in centre

Central Austrian Forces

Cavalry slog on Austrian right

And Dutch getting hammered in centre

Mounted action in narrow space on Imperial left

And the GRAND SLAM is Irelands !!!!!!

Might & Reason: Paltzig scenario played

Seven Years War game using Might & Reason rules played at mine today with Stephen as Prussians against my Russians defenders.
Scenario depicted Battle of Paltzig (or Kay) July 1759 and designed for M&R.
Great game with Russians stymied by poor Commanders whilst Prussians had excellent Commanders despite having a poor C-in-C (Wedell).
My right wing force of Irregular Light Horse performed sterling service holding up the Prussian Cuirassiers and Hussars (very much battle cavalry in this period).
However once the very maneuverable Prussian foot got to musket range they simply blow away their opponents (they score hot on 5-6 rather than just 6 which is a BIG advantage) destroying 5 units of Russian foot in course of 3 turns.
I did manage to push my heavier cavalry from my left to right flank but their counterattacks were tame to say the least.
We did not finish the game but Prussia was in the ascendancy.
Great set of rules with very nice SYW flavour for the grand tactical scale they are set at (units are Brigades) and one can see the genesis of authors Blucher set in much.
Prussian shooting is maybe a tad overpowered but it sure works to show an advantage.
The system has enough inertia/unpredictability to satisfy my 'war is chaos' leanings but with ways to mitigate (through judicious use of Command Dice) some bad luck but with few guarantees.

The battlefield Prussian set up on right beyond the stream

Russian army in 5 'Forces'

Prussians cross the stream on their left

Russian right wing awaits (ie fail to activate)

Russians center (also immobile)

Russian center and right wing

Fermors force defends Paltzig on Russian left

Prussians under Kanitz fail to cross river (they did later but failed to advance)

Mounted action on Russian right

Prussian Cuirassier threaten Russian foot

Defenders of hill on Russian right

Russian left wing mounted force transferring in column to right wing

Might & Reason game played Prussia versus Austria

Game of the excellent Might & Reason rules played today after a long time on shelf with Stephen at my gaff today.
We used Austrians (Stephen) versus Prussians (yours truly) in a points based pick-up type game.
Great stuff it was too with the fast flowing set of 'big battle' rules (another superb Sam Mustafa set).
No time to AAR but suffice to say the Prussians got stuffed.

And a few pics (I forgot to put up) from a 10mm game of a Battlegroup game at Johns last week using his 1940 French versus Stephens Germans
