In another bid to use my new French I decided to try out another set of rules I have had languishing about for ages 'Tremble Ye Tyrants' by Chris Peers.
Used a slightly amended terrain set up from FOGN game.
A fast play set that I have to say I rather enjoyed. Straightforward mechanisms with alternating activation of units and uses D20 for firing and D6 for everything else.
Pretty fast and loose but very enjoyable as a solo game. I suspect one one need to play in friendly mode only versus a real opponent but no more so than most 'non-competition style' rule sets.
It does include a simple points system.
Hope to try out several other rules for period now that I have two opposing forces.

Field Of Glory Napoleonics: Young Guard blooded
Game of FOGN with Stephen using my Spring 1813 Young Guard versus his 1813/14 Russians (it has been literally years since these have seen light of a wargames day !).
Another superb game with this complex but fun set of rules.
Nice size of game for an evening using the 'standard' 800pts match-up.
These types of games appeal to us as often last minute arrangements for a game and usually little or no preparation time available to set up a scenario type encounter.
I need to source some flags for the Young Guard foot

French Young Guard completed
Been having annoying problems with my email on PC past couple of weeks (hopefully resolved by weekend) which has killed my Pbem/Vassal gaming however on the flip side this has enabled me to base up the pre-painted French Young Guard force I obtained. Set up on table for a quick refresher of Lasalle against my Prussians and hoping to blood them properly on Friday evening using Field Of Glory versus Stephens Russians.

Stonewall Figures batch of 15mm French Young Guard arrived
My order from Stonewall Figures for a painted French force arrived today.
Precious little time to devote to them but did manage to stick a few units to bases.

No Retreat ! The Russian Front played
Been awhile since we had this on table.
Usual fun time with this very playable game.
Dad with the Germans came close to auto victory twice but try Russians narrowly (by 1 VP) took the game in turn 12 as Strategic Initiative switched.
Really good.

Field Of Glory Ancients game Han Chinese vs Early Nomad
Managed to squeeze in a game of FOG this weekend against Stephen who wanted to try his Han army with FOG.
I chose a historical match up using the Early Nomad list (looking distinctly Turkish however). So lots of Light Horse and Cavalry archers against lots of Han foot with some Cavalry.
The Han foot are tough despite being only Average status as the combination of front rank Heavy Weapons and rear rank Crossbowmen is too tough for the Nomads.
Terrain layout did not help my cause as no open flanks and little space to dance with mounted.
I did send two Cavalry units on an outflank but this proved decidedly underwhelming as one unit failed to arrive due to straggling !
Finding no gaps to exploit I pulled my stuff back but even in open field the Han are fairly immune to the Light Horse types whether flanked or not.
I did catch a unit in open with my Superior heavier cavalry but even with a General in front rank (allowing me to re-roll 1's and 2's) when I rolled my 4 dice needing 5's I rolled 1 x 5 and 3 x 3 !!!
Of course I then was out scored and proceeded to lose a base to a death roll.
Good game as ever.
