What !? can it be true ?? Steiner gets some figures on table..........FOG Ancients: Sassanid vs Late Roman.

After weeks of looooooong hours and extra duties I finally managed to get a miniatures game in today against Stephen.
As it was very last minute affair we decided to play something that needed minimum preparation and went with FOG Ancients with usual 800pt 'pick-up' game.
I chose to use Sassanid and Stephen took contemporary Late Romans.
Really fun game we had too.
Seems like ages since I got any figures into action (beginning of June).
Different 'feel' to games with lead instead of cardboard or pixel warriors.

Welcome back Gary - nice photos. Are the Sassanid cavalry considered bow-armed in FOG? Oh, and who won? :-)

Sassanid and Late Roman (well Palmyran) were my 2 25mm armies back in the days of WRG 5th edition. Really must get around to playing a game of FOG soon (actually, must get around to playing ANY game soon) - my excuses are nowhere near as good as yours :-)

    Cheers

  2. Hi sadly not as after initial success on right I managed to have a unit of Catphracts lose badly to Legionaries and the CiC died in same encounter which lead to (the inevitable) breaking of 2 adjacent units and my centre disappeared. My left flank consisted of the poor Persian foot types which refused flank as such but were eventually hunted down by some Liight Cavalry and decimated.
A bloody game for both sides but Romans came out on top .
Sassanids have Lance armed Cataphracts with mainstay being armoured bow armed cavalry. Lack f decent infantry is a bind though
