More Prussian units painted for Lasalle
A unit of Landwehr (Elbe Regiment) and Horse Artillery Battery finished for ongoing (neverending !?) Lasalle project. Still another five Foot battalions and two large Currassier units to go plus a couple of Command elements.
Hi Sgt Steiner, I try the glass half full approach, look at the pile you have done and it makes you feel better (there is a reason to have that unpainted lead pile!) ;-)
That's you worked through a full 4 gun battery (I really struggle painting artillery) and a landwher battalion in a very short time.
These are nice little figures what make are they? Cheers Paul
The figures are from Black Hat Miniatures (I think old Gladiator Minis ?) with one or two Essex (the Howitzers and couple of Cmd figs). Nice sculpts and 10 foot/6 Cav per pack instead of usual 8/4. They only do French & Prussians 1813-15.
Hi Sgt Steiner, I have seen the Essex figures before but not the Black Hat. Do you know that you don't have a link to your blog in your profile? Cheers Paul
Hi Sgt Steiner, Thanks for the offer of sending the spares to see them but no worries. I will ask my buddy Robert as I am sure he will have some! (he has the largest Napoleonic lead pile I have ever seen) I was wondering who they were from as I haven't seen them. My other buddy has the Essex Prussians. Really nice figures. Cheers Paul
I like Essex (very clean moulds) only drawback is Muskets seem bit stumpy compared to others. I researched figs at Warfare last year and liked look of BHat stuff. Old Glory and Battle Honours both very good some awkward sized bags and not so sure they mix well with other ranges. AB by far best of lot but tad expensive for a secondary period as such. So my auld Scottish blood (surname Barr) rose to fore and I went for value combined with quality :-)
My wee old gran was a Barr! I must have English blood somewhere then as I went for AB (although my Scottish blood must have been fighting it hard as I floated around Old Glory for a while!
My Grandad was a Campbell so full Highland gene-pool to draw on :-)
AB are superb but need painting skills of your high standard to do them justice and they are rather on the 'larger' side of 15mm (ie more like 18/20mm)
I liked the OG figs overall despite some strange poses (I have lots of them in my SYW Russian force) but whilst Inf bags were fine the numbers in Cav/Arty and Cmd caused too many leftovers. Love their flags.
Very nice Sgt Steiner,
ReplyDeleteYour Prussians are really coming together.

Hi Paul
ReplyDeleteWhen I look at pile of unpainted Prussian lead it doesnt seem to be getting much smaller ! :-)

Hi Paul
ReplyDeleteFixed profile (I think)
Webpage for BH at http://www.blackhat.co.uk/
Cheers
I would describe the BH figs as bulkier than Essex but not really taller. If you want I could send you a couple of spares for comparison with AB
ReplyDeleteIf so drop me a line at sgt.steiner@virgin.net with your address
Cheers
