Damn you BGG !!

Having trawled through Board Game Geek looking for info (there is a bloke 'marcowargamer' who has done literally dozens of very enticing video reviews) and I of course then got waylaid by perusing yet more potential titles !!!
Getting hard to select just one (way too pricey for more !) and have to say some very nice looking games available now.

    You need to buy ASLSK#1 or in English. Advanced Squad Leader Starter Kit. It's not quite ASL but it is that bit more than Squad Leader. You also don't have to re-morgage the house if your after it all as well. I am a very regular ASL player but understand most sane people would run a mile before going after ASL, it's got to be real tough to get into ASL these days.

    I only have Fighting Formations from GMT from that lot, but I would highly recommend it. It's got tanks (which Combat Commander by the same designer hasn't) and even better (you being a Piquet FOB man) you go up and down dice sizes to apply penalties and bonuses for shooting. It's also the first in a series, so once you learn the rules you're set for the expansions.

    I find BGG a very dangerous place to visit, in terms of time lost. I seldom wind up deciding to buy anything (I'm usually looking for something others in the family would play)), but still!

    Hi all

    I have the 'original' Avalon Hill ASL and several expansions but found it to be more a way of life than a game ! (but cant part with it all the same). I still love SL too.

    I like the look of the GD game especially the turn/imitative Matrix very interesting concept.

    The WSS game does indeed look interesting although mixed reports on BGG.

    Some very intriguing games available.

    Way of life, oh so true. Over 100 games played last year and 80+ expected this year. Yep it sucks time for sure
