Got stuck into solo game of FOB3 today and fought it to a conclusion (something FOB never fails to achieve).
The French were hammered (mainly by Prussian guns) despite taking several village sections.
The Prussian reserves managed to retake all but one village and were in throes of a counter-attack when French army yielded the field (Army Morale test failed).
Scenario needs a bit of tweaking for FOB purposes but nothing major beyond giving French a boost to some units.
Great fun with this ever excellent game system.
Compared to FOB2 the stand out is that there are less Routing units and more actually destroyed outright which makes for a yet more dynamic and speedy game without losing the narrative feel that FOB engenders.

The Prussian position in this part of the battle is very strong. I have a scenario for Ligny with FoB2 on my blog back in 214; fought at Historicon near the anniversary. I would downgrade the Prussian Landwehr and regiments above #24 were I to run it again. It is not easy for the French to do as well as they did historically. And then there is the matter of D'Erlon!
ReplyDeleteYes am considering downgrading LW Had the as C8 D6 but will make them D4 in future. Also considering making some French Crack ie D8 likely the Light Inf.

I had standard Prussians as c10 D6 might make higher number Regts C8 D6 as well as sort of inbetween better Line and Landwehr.
